Crafted in gold-fill, this piece begins with an ornate chain comprised of interlocking, ellipse-shaped links. Half of the links feature texturizing engravings, which add to the bold look of the chain. The chain secures with a spring ring clasp. The chain is interrupted by a large horizontally-set pendant. The center of the pendant features a bezel-set piece of faience, which has been carved to resemble a scarab. The faience stone is surrounded by a twisting rope-motif border. The scarab is complemented on both the left and right by bezel-set turquoise cabochons, which are also encircled by twisting rope-motif borders. The similar bluish-green hues of the faience and turquoise create a wonderful contrast to the gold-fill setting. The remainder of the large pendant's front surface features wave-motif engravings, and the backside of the component is smooth and simple.
