Victorian Gold Filled Black + White Enameled Earrings
A fabulous pair of dangling enameled earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted of yellow gold fill, these unique earrings display a gorgeous 3-dimensional orb resting at the base of an ornate cap. The domed toppers hold the orb and are comprised of 6 "leaves," each adorned with inlaid creamy white and light mint green enameled star and leaf accents that stand out beautifully against a rich black background. The orb and topper hang from an elongated link and surmount that were likely added later to the design, but blend together beautifully given the complimentary black and white enameling and unique star shaped motifs. A simple wire rests at the top of the round surmount link, which is stamped on the back "SPAIN." The earrings dangle with lovely movement and frame the face beautifully. Extremely lightweight, these earrings have a hollow base for comfortable wear, and would look stunning worn day or night!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2 1/2" long, and are a little more than 1/2" wide and 3/16" thick.
Condition: The earrings remain in good overall antique condition. There is normal wear and a natural patina to the gold filled setting and a few minor chips in the enameling, however this does not detract from the beauty of the earrings and is not unusual for enameled earrings from the 1880s.
