Victorian Gold Filled Chain + Cameo Slide Necklace 55"
A gorgeous slide chain necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in rose gold-fill, this bold necklace is comprised of a large slide that adorns a long, decorative gold-filled chain. The chain, which is particularly long in length, has a design made up of small interlocking split links that come together to form one, flowing chain. The surface of the shield-shaped slide has a fine etched pattern which frames a hard stone cameo at the center while the opposite side has a simple, smoothly polished surface. The slide moves easily, adjusting the placement of the chain as desired. No need for a clasp, the chain is plenty long enough to easily slide over head, and either doubled or tripled for a layered look. A lovely Victorian piece, it would make a special addition to any collection!
Measurements: The chain measures 55" in total length. The shield-shaped slide measures 1 1/8" long, 3/4" wide, and slightly more than 5/8" thick. The total pennyweight of the piece is 36.2 dwt, or 56.4 grams.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold-filled chain or slide. The cameo is secure and intact and the slide moves easily along the chain, however, it does tend to fall towards the bottom when worn.
