Victorian Hand Carved Coral + Turquoise Cherub Earrings
Gorgeous coral earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! These unique earrings are crafted with 14kt yellow gold and begin with a bright, oval-shaped turquoise stone surmount. The vibrant blue stone is prong set within a beautifully textured link which is encircled by beadwork and secured at the base of a simple earring wire. Hand-carved coral links dangle below, each depicting a different but complementary image of cherubs dancing and playing instruments, the angels carrying around all sides of the soft reddish orange stone. The coral cylinders are finished with a gold cap on both ends, each detailed with a fine engraved wheat motif and scalloped edging. Nine turquoise stones, ranging from a light blue to lush shades of blue-green, embellish the gold base and a single gold bead completes the wonderful design. Between their salmon-orange hue and the beautiful shades of blue, these eye-catching earrings would be a stunning addition to any Victorian collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 1 5/8" including the wire, and measure about 1/2" at their widest point.
Condition: The earrings remain in overall great antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the coral links, which are free of chips or scratches. All of the coral links and turquoise stones are intact and securely set. The earring wires are secure and in good working order.
