Victorian Large 14kt/Sterling White Sapphire + French Paste Crescent Pendant
An absolutely breathtaking white sapphire and French Paste crescent pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in sterling silver and 14kt rose gold, this bold piece is particularly large in size, and adorns sparkling white sapphires set along the front surface, accented by a border of French paste stones. A row of graduated sapphires line the center of the crescent, each one resting in a raised prong setting and surrounded by an airline cutout, making them appear as if they "float." Decorating the inside and outside perimeter of the piece are more delicately sized French paste stones, resting in bezel and shared prong settings. Together, the incredible white sapphires and paste stones create a dazzling array with every turn, closely resembling the look of real diamonds. A rose gold scalloped wirework design embellishes the entire edge of the pendant, creating a wonderful mixed metals appeal next to the darkened patina of the silver. Finishing the design are sparkling paste stones and milgrained details which decorate the large fluted bail at the top, perfect for hanging from a favorite chain. This stunning celestial pendant is positively exquisite and would look wonderful worn day or night!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2 1/8" long (including the bail at the top), and measures about 1 3/4" wide and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is great. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and sterling silver setting. All of the white sapphires and French paste stones are intact and securely set, however, it appears that there have been a few stones that were replaced through the years. The bail is secure and in good working condition.
