Victorian Large 15kt Enameled Citrine Locket/Pendant
A magnificent citrine locket/pendant from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in vibrant 15kt yellow gold, this piece is oval in shape and particularly large in size. Resting at the center is an incredible citrine stone, exhibiting a stunning golden yellow color with facets that beautifully catch the light. A wonderful enameled border surrounds the bezel-set stone and is comprised of alternating concentric bands of black and white enameling. The rich black enamel is enhanced with delicate gold beadwork and the outer border displays a twisted gold rope pattern, adding a lovely textural appeal. The piece hangs from a fantastic bow-shaped topper featuring a black and white enameled harlequin design. Resting at the top is a large fluted bail that carries a complimentary enamel and beadwork design, perfect for adding to a favorite chain. The back of the pendant reveals a large glass locket window that can be removed to store a special photograph inside. A spectacular Victorian piece, it would make a special addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket/pendant hangs 2 3/4" long from the top of the bail to the bottom of the locket. The oval locket measures approximately 1 3/4" tall, 1 1/2" wide, and 1/2" thick. The oval citrine is 7/8" tall and 5/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, enamel border, or citrine stone. The bail and locket frame are both secure and in good working condition.
