Victorian Silver Russian "5 Kopek" Coin Necklace
A wonderful Russian coin necklace from the Victorian era! This unique necklace is comprised of two rows of silver Russian "5 kopeck" coins (a form of currency issued between 1867-1914), which form a collar design that drapes attractively at the neckline. There are 60 coins in total, connected to each other by small silver rings. Both sides of the coins are very decorative, and all of the coins have matching designs. The face of each coin has the words "5 KOПѢEKЪ" framed by wreaths on either side. Below is the year and the mint mark "C.П.Б." from the Saint Petersburg Mint of Goznak. The collection of coins in this particular necklace have dates ranging between 1882-1905, with most of them dating either 1884 or 1885. The opposite side of the coin boasts a beautiful coat of arms that includes eagles and heraldic animals, crowns and coronets, and a shield at the center. All of the coins are made of 480 silver. The necklace fastens with a simple push clasp at the back. A very stylish necklace, it makes a wonderful statement piece and would appeal to any history lover or coin collector!
Measurements: The necklace measures16" long, and the double row of coins has a width of 1 1/4 ". Each coin has a diameter of approximately 5/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to any of the coins, and the clasp is secure and in good working condition.
