Victorian Sterling & Applied Gold Cupid Locket
A beautiful locket from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This oval shaped locket is made of sterling silver and has a lovely gold applied design. The front adorns a beautiful gold figure that represents a cherub, who appears to resemble Cupid. The cherub has feathered angel wings and holds a small bow and arrow. Framing the cherub is a lovely floral motif. The back of the locket has a monogrammed initial design with the letters "C" and "S." The locket opens to reveal 2 places for your favorite photos, both of which are covered by glass. A small ring attached to the top connects to a mixed metals bail. This stunning locket would make a simply wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs approximately 2 1/4", is slightly more than 1 3/8" wide and is 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling or applied gold. The locket opens easily and fastens shut securely.
