Victorian Sterling Heart Filigree Link Book Chain Necklace 19"
A gorgeous book chain from the Victorian era (ca1880)! This sterling silver piece features incredible filigree wirework with wonderful accent beads along the edge. The design is comprised of interlocking panel links, each connected with smooth rings at the top and bottom. The filigree pattern provides wonderful depth and texture on both sides, with a lovely cut out pattern that resembles Etruscan wirework. Polished beads travel along both edges of the necklace with one edge adorning slightly larger beads, creating an incredibly eye-catching accent! A large removable large spring ring clasp rests at the center, allowing a complimentary pendant or locket to be attached if desired. Despite its substantial appearance, the hollow link design makes it quite light weight and comfortable to wear. Whether paired with a hanging piece or worn alone, it makes a striking a statement, and is perfect for the serious collector!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 19" long. Each link measures approximately 1 1/8" tall (bead to bead), about 3/8 wide, and a little more than 1/8" thick. The spring ring clasp measures about 5/8" in diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting or filigree wirework design. All of the links are intact and securely connected. The spring ring clasp is secure and in good working order. A very subtle gold hue is slightly visible in some minor areas, indicating the piece may have been previously gilded.
