Victorian Sterling Link Chain + Garnet Snake Clasp Necklace 39"
A gorgeous and unique chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This hand wrought sterling silver chain necklace is comprised of interlocking oval links with a smoothly polished surface, creating a lovely eye-catching appeal. The piece fastens with a watch swivel clasp attached to a loop at the end of a gorgeous mythological creature head link, similar to a snake. The 3-dimensional design displays a slightly gilded appearance, and adorns a wonderful carved scaly texture atop its head and face. Two raspberry red garnet cabochons dot each eye, adding a wonderful pop of color, and delicate sharp teeth line the inside of its mouth. Whether worn long, doubled up, or with a pendant, this stunning necklace has endless versatility and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The chain measures approximately 39" long. The chain measures about 1/8" wide. The snake motif measures approximately 1 1/4" long, 1/2" wide, and 1/4" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver setting. The swivel clasp fastens securely and is in good working condition. The garnets are intact and securely set.
