Victorian Sterling Silver Foil Back Moonstone Drop Earrings
A lovely pair of moonstone earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! These simple yet stunning earrings are crafted in darkened sterling silver, and have a wonderful drop design. Each earring features a beautiful cabochon moonstone, which is bezel set in a foil back setting. The setting highlights the stone's iridescent and translucent properties and allows the pale blue colors to flash beautifully in the light. The reverse side of the setting reveals the darkened sterling setting which encases the foil backing. When worn, the earrings frame the face beautifully and dangle with lovely movement from sterling wire tops. They would make a wonderful everyday accessory!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 7/8" in length, (including the wires), and measure a little less than 5/8" wide and are 1/4" thick.
Condition: The earrings remain in good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the sterling setting and the wires are secure and in good working order. The moonstones are intact and securely set, however, the original foil backing does show some some sign of wear. The wear is slightly noticeable when the earrings are worn, however, it does not detract from the overall beauty of the earrings.
