Product Details

French paste is a Vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using real gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.

A stunning pair of French paste earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These dazzling earrings feature gorgeous round crystals that are beautifully faceted on the front and back. Each crystal is particularly large in size and held within a sterling bezel setting with an open back. The facets give the earrings a fabulous light-catching quality and could easily be mistaken for the real thing. They hang from simple sterling earring wires. The earrings would look perfect for daily wear or special occasions and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!

Measurements: Each earring hangs 1 1/4" long, has a diameter of 5/8" and is 3/8" thick at its thickest point.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting and both paste stones are intact.
