Victorian Sterling Silver Moonstone Festoon Necklace 16.25"
A gorgeous moonstone necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This stunning piece is crafted in sterling silver and comprised of stunning moonstone cabochon links that form an elegant festoon style necklace. Alluring round and oval shaped moonstones rest beautifully along the entire neckline, graduating slightly in size, with the largest stones set towards the middle. Dangling from the center stone are two graduated moonstone links, and hanging on either side is a round moonstone, together creating the lovely festoon style appeal. Each stone is held in a scalloped bezel setting, adding a soft, feminine look to the design. The open back cabochons exhibit a wonderful translucent quality with a vibrant blue flash when caught in the light. The links are attached together by simple connector rings that trail into two short chains in the back, which fasten together by a simple spring ring clasp. This magnificent necklace drapes beautifully along the neckline when worn and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The necklace measures approximately 16.25" long. The center strand hangs about 1 1/4" below the necklace, while the shorter strands hang about 1/2" below. The largest moonstone link measures about 1/2" long, 1/4" wide, and is about 1/8" thick. The smallest moonstone link measures a little less than 1/4" in diameter, and is about 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or to any of the moonstone cabochons, all of which are intact. The spring ring clasp is secure and in good working condition.
