Victorian Sterling Silver Peace Dove Earrings
A wonderful and unique pair of dangling earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! Crafted in sterling silver, each earring displays a beautifully textured dove atop of a smoothly polished ball which dangles freely from a complimentary topper. The 3-dimentional bird features incredible details, including etched feathers, a pointed beak, and open, curved wings. The ball at the base is smoothly polished, which compliments the smaller sized topper which attaches to a simple earring wire at the top. The earrings dangle with lovely movement, and the birds are mirror images of each other, framing the face beautifully. Despite their design, the earrings are hollow and lightweight for comfortable, everyday wear. When worn, they make a stylish statement and would compliment any jewelry collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 1/2" long, including the wires at the top, measures about 3/4" wide and is 1/2" thick.
Condition: The earrings are in overall great antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no serious damage to the sterling setting or wires. There are a few small dents to the back surface of both balls and one very minor one on the front of one, however, because of their location, they are hardly noticeable when worn. There is natural darkened patina to parts of the silver, which is common given the age of the piece and adds to its unique beauty and character.
