Vintage 14kt "Add A Pearl" Necklace 14.75"
This Vintage "Add A Pearl" necklace from the 1960s has a simple, yet beautiful design! The tradition of the "Add A Pearl" necklace began in 1915 and became a special keepsake piece often given as a gift to a young girl. The necklaces were designed as a simple strand of pearls, often beginning with just one single pearl in the center, and the strand would grow over time as more pearls were added to mark a special occasion (hence the name "Add A Pearl"). This particular necklace is a lovely example! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold, the necklace is comprised of a fine chain with a row of graduated cultured pearls at the center. Each pearl has a soft ivory color and beautiful natural luster. The length of the necklace makes it suitable for a young girl, and when worn by an adult, it rests beautifully along the neckline. The piece fastens in the back at a lovely filigree secure clasp, stamped with "14K" and "ADD A PEARL." A delicate and feminine necklace, it has a classically beautiful design and a wonderful tradition that would make a special gift or addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The overall length of the necklace is 14.75" long. The strand of pearls at the center measures approximately 1 1/2" long. The smallest of the graduated pearls measures 1.5mm in diameter and the largest pearls measure 3mm in diameter.
Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold chain or pearls, all of which are intact. The clasp is secure and in good working condition.
