Vintage 14kt Gold & Enamel "Stork Delivering Baby" Charm
A wonderful Vintage gold charm from the 1950's! This sweet and amusing charm is made of 14kt yellow gold and is enameled on both sides. In order to explain the origin of new babies, many traditional fables told to young children would describe a tall white bird called a stork, which would deliver a baby to its family's home, carried in a white cloth held in the stork's long beak. The old-time myth of the stork has now made it a symbol of fertility and a celebration of new birth. This lovely vintage charm depicts a stork in flight, complete with enamel detail depicting outstretched feathered wings, long legs, and beak, which holds a small infant shrouded in a white cloth. At the top of the piece is a simple gold jump ring, making it easy to hang from a chain or add to a special charm bracelet or necklace. This delightful charm has wonderful detail, and could make a special gift to celebrate a new bundle of joy in someone's life!
Measurements: The charm hangs approximately 1/2" long, measures 6/8" wide, and is less than 1/16" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the charm is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or enamel surface, and the bail is secure and intact.
