Vintage 14kt Moveable Miniature Abacus Charm
A wonderful vintage abacus charm from the 1960s! This adorable design is crafted in 14kt yellow gold, and depicts a miniature working abacus with moveable parts. There are 9 vertical gold wires contained within the rectangular frame, and a horizontal gold bar that splits them across the middle. Threaded onto each wire are 7 delicate gold beads (two on the top, and five on the bottom), which can spin around in place, and move freely up or down the wire as needed. A simple gold loop and jump ring are attached to one side of the abacus, allowing it to hang from a gold chain or a favorite charm bracelet. Stamped on the edge of the frame is a "14K" gold purity mark. A fun novelty piece, it is sure to delight any math lover, and it would be right at home in any vintage charm collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 1/8" in total length, including the gold jump ring at the top. The abacus itself measures 7/8" wide, 1/2" tall, and 1/16" thick. The overall pennyweight of the piece is 1.4 dwt (2.3 grams).
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or the moveable parts of the design. The jump ring is securely attached.
