Vintage 18kt Gold Amethyst & Ruby Spinner Fob
A fob is an adornment or a seal that hangs from the ribbon or chain of a pocket watch. Its purpose is to decorate or add weight to the watch chain itself making it easier for the watch to be withdrawn from a pocket. A spinner or swivel fob has two or more plaques which can be turned or swiveled within a moveable bracket. The fob would have been used to seal the wax of a letter or note.
A fabulous and colorful Vintage spinner fob from the 1970s! This striking piece is comprised of a vibrant 18kt yellow gold fob that has a beautiful faceted amethyst spinner. The spinner framework is accented with four delicate floral details, each with yellow gold petals and a ruby stone in the center. A gold leaf-like accent rests on either side of the hinged fob where the frame meets the spinner. The faceted amethyst stone is bezel set and has an incredibly intense, rich deep purple color that looks incredible against the bright yellow gold setting. At the top of the fob is a gold loop and bail, making it easy to hang and wear from a favorite chain. A very fun and stylish vintage piece, it would make a gorgeous addition to any collection!
Measurements: The fob hangs 1 3/4" long from the top of the bail to the base of the amethyst stone. The fob measures 1 1/8" at the widest point and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the yellow gold frame or amethyst stone, which is intact and free of chips. The bail is intact and secure, and the spinner is in good working condition.
