Bakelite is a resin material that was produced in the early 1900's and was the first plastic substance made of synthetic components. Initially used for its electrically non-conductive and heat resistant properties in radio and telephone castings, the material was also used in other products such as kids' toys, kitchenware and jewelry. Typically made of bright, beautiful colors, Bakelite has become very collectible over recent years and is appreciated amongst many.

A very striking and unique Vintage Bakelite ring from the 1950s era! This fabulous piece has a wide band carved from a solid piece of wood, and features an oval shaped Bakelite insert. The bold Bakelite face displays a rich, deep red hue and its height allows it to sit high above the wood setting in a dramatic domed design. The combination of the deep brown wood and vibrant red Bakelite gives it a fabulous modern appeal and the bold and unusual design looks striking when worn!

Measurements: The ring has a finger size of an approximate 9. Due to the unique style of the ring, the piece could only be increased very slightly in size and unable to be decreased in finger size. When worn, the top of the Bakelite dome rests approximately 3/4" above the finger. The wood band graduates in width, measuring slightly less than 1" wide at the face to slightly more than 3/8" wide at the back.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there are no apparent chips or cracks in the Bakelite insert or wood band.
