A unique Blackamoor pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This decorative piece is cast in bronze, and depicts a jovial Blackamoor figurine shown from the neck up. The detailed design includes individual facial features and textured detail representing curls of hair. Sparkling rose cut diamonds are set in each eye, and the smiling mouth reveals two rows of porcelain teeth. Dangling from each ear is a gold earring set with a delicate cabochon ruby. Completing the design is an intricate 14kt gold collar, which has an engraved motif along the back, meeting a blue enameled bow at the center. The Blackamoor bust flares out at the base of the collar, and a gold pin clasp is riveted through the back of the piece. Antique Blackamoor jewelry has become very collectable, and this pin is no exception. A very unusual piece, it looks fantastic when worn and would make a unique addition to any collection!
Measurements: The Blackamoor pin measures 7/8" tall and is 5/8" wide and thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. The Blackamoor design shows some light signs of normal surface wear, but remains in very good condition for its age. There is a natural patina present on the surface of the bronze and gold, which is normal for a Victorian piece and adds depth to the design. The gemstone accents are all intact, and the gold pin clasp fastens securely.
