A fabulous yellow and rose gold book chain from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This beautiful necklace is made of 18kt gold and is comprised of wonderfully detailed, hollow Etruscan links. The links are made of yellow gold and are shaped like urns, displaying an exquisite Etruscan wirework design on the front surface. In the center of each link is a groove which has a rose gold surface. Large rose gold rings alternate with the Etruscan urns, linking them together. The book chain fastens together with 3 large rose gold spring clasps, allowing you to wear the necklace long or to wear it with a 2.5 extension, perfect for attaching locket or pendant. The necklace is elegantly beautiful and would look stunning worn by itself or paired with a locket or pendant. It's a very special Victorian piece that would make a marvelous addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: When fully extended, the entire length of the piece measures approximately 20.5" long. When worn with the extenion, the necklace measures 18" long and the double link extender measures 2 1/2" long. Each individual urn link measures approximately 1" long, 1/2" wide and 3/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the chain necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold links or to the Etruscan wirework design and the clasps are in good working condition.
