Many rubies, antique and modern, are heat-treated to improve color, which is an accepted practice. Some older stones are untreated. We disclose any known treatment on each piece in line with FTC guidelines, so you understand exactly what you are buying.

Natural rubies form in the earth and usually show inclusions, while synthetics are grown in a lab and tend to look cleaner. Synthetic ruby has existed since the early 1900s, so we identify each stone accurately as natural or otherwise.

Ruby is very hard and durable, so warm water, mild soap, and a soft brush are usually enough. Avoid harsh chemicals and have settings checked periodically. We are happy to advise on care for any ruby piece bought from us.
