Art Deco Sterling & Matte Black Enamel Locket Necklace
A fantastic enameled locket necklace from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! This simple yet stylish piece is made of sterling silver and is comprised of an oval-shaped locket that hangs from a complimentary chain. Both sides of the locket have a rich black enamel surface, which has a very lovely matte finish. When opened, the interior reveals two spaces to store special photographs inside. The locket hangs from its original complimentary chain, which consists of black enameled links that alternate with sections of silver chain, meeting at a lorgnette style extension in the center. At the back of the chain is a simple spring ring clasp. This versatile necklace has a very striking look that would be perfect for everyday wear. It would make a fabulous addition to any collection!
Measurements: The locket measures 1 1/4" tall, 1 1/8" wide, and is 1/4" thick. The chain measures approximately 24" long, while the lorgnette extension and locket hangs 3 1/2" long below. Each enameled link is 3/4" long.
Condition: The overall condition of both the locket and chain is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or black enameled surface, which is excellent condition. The locket opens easily and fastens shut securely. The clasp on the chain is secure and in good working condition.
