SKU: 43200

$2,595
A striking and unique carved ivory and pearl pendant from the Arts and Crafts (ca1910) era! This gorgeous piece is substantial in size and adorns a large hand carved ivory plaque held within a 14kt yellow gold frame. The oval-shaped plaque features an intricately carved design on the front surface depicting a fantastic mythical creature that curves around with its head resting near the center. The creature is embellished with two darkened eyes, a pointy tongue, and the surrounding scene features incredible texture, adding wonderful dimension to the design. The bezel set plaque is held within an ornate frame, which is decorated with swirled wirework that alternates with textured leaf motifs. Six gorgeous freshwater pearls are symmetrically set along the frame, exhibiting a high surface luster and a rich creamy white color. The combination of the carved ivory next to the ornate yellow gold frame is exquisite. A large fluted bail rests at the top and a bar pin and secure clasp (stamped with a "14K" gold purity mark) is attached at the back, allowing the piece to be worn on a favorite chain or garment. This magnificent piece makes a fabulous statement piece when worn and would make a stunning addition to any collection!

Measurements: The pin/pendant hangs approximately 3" long (including the bail at the top), measures lightly less than 2" wide, and is about 3/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pin/pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, carved ivory plaque or gold setting. The bail and pin clasp are secure and in good working condition and all of the freshwater pearls are intact and securely set.
