Art Deco Platinum Diamond, Jadeite, Onyx + Rock Crystal Convertible Earrings

An absolutely stunning and one-of-a-kind pair of convertible earrings from the Art Deco (ca1920) era! These incredible platinum earrings feature a decorative topper which can dangle three different pairs of plaques from the base, creating a variety of fabulous looks. The filigree topper is similar in shape to a shield and holds a sparkling diamond at the center of delicate cutouts. Fine milgrained work decorates the entire surmount and attached at the top is a gold post and earring back, allowing the versatile looks to swing with lovely movement. Hanging below the topper are two bezel set diamonds that flank a sparkling, diamond-shaped plaque in the middle. Resting on the back at the base is a hook and safety latch that allows each of the plaques to securely attach and dangle below.

The trio of hand-carved plaques include an onyx loop, a natural, no-heat jadeite teardrop, and an embellished rock quartz crystal ring. The polished onyx loops graduate slightly from top to bottom, and exhibit a wonderful, rich ebony color. The jadeite plaques display mottled green hues and subtle, milky marbling throughout. Mirror images of a lovely bird and floral motif are softly carved onto the front surfaces, with intricate cutouts perfectly placed throughout the design. The translucent rock quartz crystal rings reveal a wonderful floral and leaf etching that encircles the front surface, and also shows through to the back. Attached at the top of each plaque is a decorative platinum loop that securely connects to the hook at the back of the topper. 

Accompanying the earrings is a Jade Report issued in April 2019 by GIA (Gemological Institute of America), confirming both plaques to be natural jadeite with no signs of color treatment. These three-in-one earrings are one-of-a-kind and would make a stunning and fantastic addition to any collection! 

Measurements: The earring toppers hang approximately 1 1/8" long, and measure 1/4" wide, and 1/8" thick. The onyx loops hang approximately 7/8" long, and measure about 3/4" in diameter, and are a little under 1/8" thick. The jadeite plaques hang approximately 1" long, and measure about 3/4" wide, and 1/16" thick. The rock quartz crystal loops hang approximately 7/8" long, measure a little less than 7/8" in diameter, and are a 1/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the earring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum setting or to the rock quartz crystal or jadeite plaques. The loops at the top of each plaque are secure and in good working condition and the hook and safety latch on the topper, along with the earring posts and backs are all secure and in good working order.
