A signet ring can be represented with an intaglio, which is created by carving below the surface of a stone, or by a simple smooth seal. Its purpose would have been to seal the wax of a letter or note.
An incredible gold signet ring from the Art Nouveau (ca1900s) era! Crafted in vibrant 18k yellow gold, this ring features a square-shaped centerpiece. The centerpiece has not been personalized, and the wearer's initials could be easily added! The shoulders of the ring feature a butterfly-motif, and complementary foliage and tulip-motif repoussé details. The remainder of the band is smooth and simple, and the inside of the shank is stamped with a maker's mark, which reads "HF". A one-of-a-kind piece, this signet ring would be perfect for any antique jewelry lover!
Measurements:The ring is a size 8.5, but could easily be resized. The band has a width of 5.2mm.
Condition:The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold ring.
