A romantic locket from the Art Nouveau (ca1910s) era! Crafted in vibrant 15k yellow gold, the front of this heart-shaped locket features a lovely engraved depiction of a cherub shooting a bow and arrow. The backside of the piece features an original personalized engraving which reads: "New York 16/5/16 Best of wishes, fondest love Jack". The sweet message is surrounded by a an engraved postal letter border. The backside of the piece also features a few small hallmarks, which include a shield-motif, "15" and "625" purity marks, the letter "g", and a maker's mark which reads "M&Q". These hallmarks indicate that the piece was crafted in England. The top of the locket features a lovely bail, which is attached to a swirling-motif topper. The side of the piece features a hidden latch, which allows the piece to open and close securely. The inside of the locket features two, hollow compartments, which would allow the wearer to store a small memento or photograph. A sweet and timeless locket, this piece would make a fantastic addition to any jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket hangs 1 1/4" in total length, including the bail at the top, is a little less than 1" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. There is no damage to the gold setting, and the pendant opens and closes securely. The bail at the top of the piece is intact and securely attached.
