A beautiful checkerboard locket from the Edwardian era (ca1910s)! The locket is crafted in 14k rose gold and platinum, and features an attractive checkerboard design. A pattern of square cut onyx stones and sparkling rose cut diamonds form the grid, which covers the entire front surface of the piece. The back of the locket is left simple and smooth. When opened from the side, the interior reveals space to store a special photograph, lock of hair, or small mirror inside. A swirled wirework adornment decorates the top of the piece, and the locket features a complementary kite-shaped bail, which is also encrusted with rose cut diamonds held in place by bead-settings. This exquisitely crafted locket is a wonderful example of fine Edwardian era jewelry and would make a special addition to any collection!

Measurements: The locket hangs 1 7/8" long (including the bail), measures 3/4 wide, and is 1/4" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the locket is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum-topped gold setting, and all of the diamonds and onyx stones are intact. The locket opens easily and fastens securely, and the bail is secure. There is some light surface wear to the back of the piece, which is minor and not visible when worn.
