Not many people are aware that Newark, New Jersey was a major hub for the manufacture of jewelry from the late 1800s until the 1950s. One of the leading companies, the Riker Brothers, has an early history that dates back to 1846. Their beautiful pieces are quite sought after and still remain highly collectible today.
This stunning bangle bracelet from the Art Nouveau (ca1900s) era is a wonderful example of the Riker Brothers' talent! Crafted in vibrant 14k yellow gold, the bracelet is a slip-on style bangle. The front of the bangle features two bezel-set old European cut diamonds, which display G/H color and VS1-VS2 clarity. The diamonds have an approximate total carat weight of .50ctw, and are separated by a central bezel-set sapphire. The round-cut sapphire has a carat weight of .30ctw, and displays an incredible luscious blue hue! The entire surface of the bangle features an engraved chevron-style pattern, which adds a unique "flash" to the piece. The inside of the bangle is stamped with the Riker Brothers' maker's mark and a "14K" purity mark. The inside of the bracelet also features a personal engraving, which reads: "L.R.H". A fantastic piece by a renowned jeweler, this piece would blend seamlessly into any Art Nouveau or Riker Brothers' collection!
Measurements: The inside of the bangle (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 1/2" wide and 2 1/4" tall.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold bangle. All of the stones are secure and intact.
