A lovely pair of ball earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 14k yellow gold, each earring begins with a lovely gold ball surmount. The earrings then feature a lovely cap, which is adorned with small three-dimensional gold balls and Etruscan wirework. The largest component of the earrings is a gold ball, which is decorated on the front with a horizontal row of 7 turquoise cabochons, which are held within clover-shaped bezel settings. The turquoise stones are bordered on both the top and bottom by additional wirework and gold balls. The backside of each larger gold ball is smooth and simple, and the lowermost point of each features an additional gold ball. The earrings are completed by simple lever backs. A dainty pair, these earrings would make a bold addition to any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 1/4" long. The gold ball has a diameter of 5/8".
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold balls, caps, and lever backs. All of the turquoise stones are intact and securely set.
