A bold locket pendant from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 14k yellow gold, this large, oval-shaped locket is covered on both the front and back by beautiful onyx plaques. The front of the locket pendant features a "v"-shaped row of bead-set pearls, which display a grayish-blue luster. The pearls are surrounded by a border of small, trefoil-motifs, which add to the overall appeal of the piece. A central, gold ray extends down from the "v"-shaped adornment, which leads to a larger, prong-set pearl. The larger pearl rests atop a slightly sunken gold disc. The top of the locket features a fluted bail, which features an additional onyx plaque. The side of the piece features a discrete latch, which allows the locket pendant to open and close securely. Once open, the locket features 2, hollow compartments, which would allow the wearer to insert sentimental photographs of mementos. A rare find from a bygone era, this locket pendant would make an exceptional addition to any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: The locket has a height of 2 1/4" (including the complimentary bail) and a width of 1 1/2".
Condition: The overall condition of the piece is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting, onyx plaques, or small pearls. The bail is attached and in working order, and the piece opens and closes securely.
