Victorian 14k Sapphire Makeup Compact Locket Pendant

A highly unique locket pendant from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in vibrant 14k yellow gold, the outside surface of this oval-shaped locket is adorned with highly-intricate engravings! Both sides feature scrolling, foliage, and blooming floral-motifs, which add to the feminine appeal of the piece. The front of the locket features a central, engraved monogram, which appears to read: "HDM". The side of the locket pendant features a discrete "button", which allows the piece to open and close securely. The button is represented by a small, bezel-set sapphire cabochon. The sapphire displays a deep blue hue, which wonderfully contrasts the yellow gold setting. Once opened, the inside of the locket features an oval-shaped mirror, and 2, small latched compartments, which would allow the wearer to store mementos or makeup. The top of the locket features a complimentary bail, which would allow the piece to be easily attached to a favorite gold chain.
