A signet ring can be represented with an intaglio, which is created by carving below the surface of a stone, or by a simple smooth seal. Its purpose would have been to seal the wax of a letter or note.
An incredible and unusual gold signet ring from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in vibrant 18k yellow gold, this ring features an oval-shaped centerpiece, which is adorned with a highly-detailed intaglio. The intaglio depicts the Owens family crest. The crest is centered around a shield, which is adorned with the side profile of a griffin. The top of the shield features the side profile of a knight, and the shield is bordered on both the left and right by feathers. The centerpiece also features an engraving which reads "Owens". The remainder of the band is smooth and simple. A fantastic and bold ring, this piece would be perfect for any signet ring lover or Owens family member!
Measurements:The ring is a size 11.75, but could easily be resized. The band has a width of 5.45mm.
Condition:The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold ring.
