A delightful pair of diamond buckle earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 18k vibrant yellow gold, each earring begins with an oval-shaped surmount. The surface of the surmount is smooth and simple. The earrings then feature a larger, oval-shaped link, which is topped by a buckle-motif. The outline of the buckle is decorated with deep black enameling, which incorporates swirling-motifs. The center of each buckle features a bezel-set rose cut diamond, which adds a wonderful shine to the earrings! Each large, oval-shaped link is topped by a twisted wirework-motif, which incorporates 4 small gold balls. The bottom of each link features an additional, dangling gold ball. The earrings are completed by simple earring wires. The backside of each earring features a small hallmark, which indicates that the piece was created in France. A spectacular pair, these earrings would make a fantastic addition to any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 2 1/8" long (including the earring wires) and measure 5/8" at their widest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The diamonds are intact and securely set, and the earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
