During the latter part of the 19th century (in the Victorian era) there was a resurgence of fine jewelry produced to imitate the classic Renaissance styles. These colorful designs were referred to as "Renaissance Revival," and they relied heavily on colorful motifs, gemstones, and vibrant enamel to mimic the 15th-17th century styles.
A spectacular and very unusual set of figural rings from the Renaissance Revival period of the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in vibrant 24k yellow gold, each ring features the connected bodies of two open-mouthed badgers. The heads of the badgers are decorated with subtle white and green enameling, and intricate engravings which bring the creatures to life. Additionally, each open-mouthed badger features a small tongue. The remainder of the bands feature texturizing-engravings. Uniquely, the rings are somewhat oval in shape, which allows for optimal comfortability and the stacking of the identical rings. A highly unique set, these rings would make a spectacular addition to any antique jewelry collection!
Measurements: The rings are both approximately a size 7.5. However, due to the unique shape of the rings, it is difficult to obtain an exact size. The back of each ring measures 2.45mm wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring set is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold rings, and the enamel detailing is intact.
