A fantastic pair of earrings from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 9kt yellow gold, these earrings begin with a simple earring wire atop an ellipsoid surmount. An ornate teardrop shape hangs below, centering on an oval onyx stone adorned with a golden 8-pointed star. A delicate pearl adorns the star while dainty rope detail and black and white enameling bring further intrigue to the design. The bottom of the teardrop has a scalloped motif and carries a dramatic spear. On the backside of the dramatic drop, the hallmarks read an encircled "1" above a diamond engraved with "15", "H" twice, "5" and "RD". Framing the face beautifully, this gorgeous pair of earrings would make a special addition to a Victorian collection!
Measurements: The earrings hang approximately 2 3/4" in length (including the earring wire). They measure nearly 5/8" at their widest point and slightly less than 3/8" at their deepest point.
Condition: The earrings are in excellent condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting. The onyx stones, pearls, and enameling are all in excellent condition. The earring wires are secure and in good working condition.
