The piece is a spectacular engagement ring from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in 18k yellow gold, this ring features a central, marquise-shaped plaque, which features a lovely cross-motif. The cross is comprised of small bead-set, seed pearls, which display a lovely luster. The remainder of the centerpiece is decorated with deep black enameling. The shoulders of the ring also feature deep black enameling, and are adorned with gold scrolling and foliage-motifs. The band of the ring features additional enamel-detailing, which incorporate alternating umbrella and cloud-shaped motifs. The band is also decorated with feather-motif engravings, which add wonderful texture to the mourning ring! The inside of the shank features an original, personalized engraving which reads: "William Osborne died March 29th, 1886 Aged 66" and the monogram: "JMO". The inside of the shank is also marked: "F.W", with a crown-motif, an "18", and a shield-shaped hallmark. These hallmarks indicate that the piece was crafted in Chester in the year 1893. A gorgeous piece was a fascinating history, this ring would make a one-of-a-kind addition to any antique jewelry collection!

Measurements: The ring is currently a size 7.25, and could be resized slightly. The band has a width of 4.67mm.

Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the gold setting, and the enamel-detailing is free from any major chips or scratches. All of the pearls are intact and securely set.
