A fabulous silver book chain locket necklace from the Victorian (ca1880s) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this necklace is comprised of a lovely book chain. The book chain features a row of central floral-motif links, which are bordered on both the top and bottom by 2 rows of three-dimensional sterling silver balls. The chain secures with a spring ring clasp, which features a large oval-shaped locket. The locket is adorned with repousse detailing, which includes foliage, floral, scrolling, and a sickle motif. The backside of the locket is smooth and simple, and is stamped with 3 hallmarks, which include a lion, the letter "t" and an anchor. These hallmarks indicate that the piece was created in Birmingham, England. A fantastic necklace, this piece would make a great addition to any Victorian-era collection!
Measurements: The chain measures 15" long, and the locket measures 1 1/2" long and 1 1/8" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the book chain necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the silver chain, and the spring ring clasp is secure and intact. The locket is in working order, and there is no damage to the raised details.
