A fantastic and historical sterling silver pin from the Victorian (ca1897) era! Crafted in sterling silver, this piece was created to celebrate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, recognizing her 60 year anniversary on the throne. Queen Victoria was the first English monarch to celebrate this momentous achievement . This shield-shaped pin is adorned with intricate symbols including the letters "V" and "R", which stand for Victoria Regina/Queen Victoria. The pin also features a crown, tower, blooming flowers, and leaves. The bottom of the piece also features the years "1837" and "1897", the 60 years that led to the monarch's Diamond Jubilee. The backside of the piece features a simple pin clasp, and is stamped "W.R", with a crown motif, the letter "m", and an anchor. These hallmarks indicate that the piece is English in origin. The piece is accompanied by its original box which is rectangular in shape and cream-colored. The top of the box is marked "1837 Jubilee 1897". A one-of-a-kind piece that has stood the test of time, this pin would make an impressive addition to any collection!
