Victorian Sterling & Four Leaf Clover French Paste Pin

SKU: 22890

$395

French paste is a Vintage jewelry term used to describe the practice of using faceted cut glass, cut in the shape of a real gemstone, instead of using real gems. This process, which was developed in the 1700's, created the look of a sparkling gemstone or diamond but cost much less than real stones.

A fabulous French paste pin from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is in the shape of a lucky four leaf clover and encrusted with 22 sparkling closed back French paste stones. The stones are set in sterling silver and the pin has a 3-dimensional look. On the back of the piece is a large pin clasp with the original c-catch clasp. It is stamped "STERLING" along with the number "35". It's a fabulous and fun piece for any collector!

Measurements: The paste pin measures 1 1/8" at the widest point, 1 1/4" at the tallest point and is 3/8" thick.

Condition: The overall condition of the pin is excellent. There is no apparent damage to the silver setting or paste stones and the pin clasp is secure and in good working condition.
