A beautiful and unusual bangle bracelet from the Victorian (ca1880) period! Crafted in sterling silver, this fabulous piece has a simple and attractive design. The bracelet has a smooth, light blue enameled surface which carries around the entire exterior of the piece. At the front of the bangle, in sterling silver, are the German words "GOTT SCHUTZE DICH", which translates to "God Protect You". The hinged bangle is completed by a hidden push clasp, and an additional safety chain. The tongue of the push clasp is stamped with a maker's mark which reads: "M.S", and a small, illegible hallmark. A unique piece, this bangle would make a splendid addition to any Victorian-era jewelry collection!
Measurements: The inside of the bracelet (where a wrist would rest) measures 2 3/8" wide and approximately 2" tall. The surface is approximately 1/4" wide.
Condition: The overall condition of the bracelet is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling setting or to the enameled surface. The push clasp and safety chain are both secure and in working order.
