Art Deco Sterling & Carved Carnelian Flower Motif Ring
This gorgeous carnelian ring from the Art Deco era (ca1920) is absolutely exceptional! Crafted in sterling silver, this impressive piece is quite substantial in size and design. At the center is a large carnelian plaque, which displays a rich burnt orange color and lightly carved surface. Surrounding the central stone is an elaborate filigree setting, which is bursting with beautiful floral details. Feminine flowers decorate each shoulder, complete with shapely cutouts, engraved accents, and fine milgrain. Completing the design is a stacked band in the back. The inside of the setting is stamped "STERLING" below the centerpiece. A remarkably artistic ring, it makes a striking statement piece when worn, and is perfect for the vintage and antique collector!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size 7, but could be re-sized. The centerpiece measures 1 1/4" long, 7/8" wide, and rests 3/8" high.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting or to the floral filigree details. The carnelian plaque is secure and free of chips or scratches. There is a natural patina on the surface of the setting, which is a normal characteristic of antique jewelry, and adds further depth to the 3-dimensional accents within the design.
