Victorian Sterling Carved Feldspar Acorn Earrings

SKU: 0534

Feldspars are a family of rock-forming minerals which make up as much as 60% of the Earth's crust. Feldspars crystalize from magma as veins and are present in many types of metamorphic rock as well as sedimentary rock. The Feldspar family includes moonstones, amazonite and labradorite.

A charming pair of sterling and feldspar earrings from the Victorian (ca1880) era! These whimsical, feminine earrings begin with sterling toppers in an ornate spiral-shaped design. A beadwork accent rests at the center, and swirled wire adornments fan out at either side. Dangling from the bottom is a beautiful carved acorn carved from a solid piece of feldspar. The acorns have an iridescent appearance with a pearlized white sheen, which is difficult to capture in pictures, but quite alluring in person! Simple sterling earring wires at the top complete the artistic design. These wonderful earrings would make a marvelous addition to any collection!

Measurements: The earrings hang 1 3/4" long, including the wire tops. Each feldspar acorn measures about 7/8" long and is 1/2" wide/thick. The spiral surmounts measure 1/2" in diameter.

Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the sterling silver setting. Both feldspar acorns have some normal light signs of surface wear, which is minor, and not noticeable when worn. There is a natural patina on the sterling setting that gives a darkened antique appearance to the design.
