A fabulous pair of Retro (ca1940s) ruby cabochon cufflinks from legendary American jewelry maker J.E. Caldwell! These striking cufflinks each feature a raised no-heat Burmese ruby cabochon that is bezel set at the center of an 14kt yellow gold disc and total weight of the two stones are approximately 4.50ctw. The disc frame is wide and slightly concave and has a smoothly polished surface. The rubies displays exquisite deep pinkish red color and are smoothly polished into a raised cabochon shape, giving them a very eye-catching design. Gold airplane backs are attached at the base of each cufflink, and are stamped "14K" on the bar along with the number "W9664" and the authentic "J.E.C. & Co." hallmark on the back of each disk. Accompanying the cufflinks is a Gemological Ruby Origin Report issued by GIA (Gemological Institute of America) in January 2018, confirming the rubies' stated characteristics. A bold and unusual pair of cufflinks, they make a unique statement when worn!
Measurements: Each round cufflink face is 5/8" in diameter, and has a depth of 1/4".
Condition: The overall condition of the cufflinks is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting or to the ruby cabochons, which are intact. The airplane backs are secure and in good working condition.
