Victorian 18kt Rose Cut Diamond Starburst Ball Pendant
A beautiful and unusual pendant from the Victorian era (ca1880)! Originally an antique hat pin, the piece has been converted into a unique pendant that now hangs from a gold ring at the top. The pendant is crafted in 18kt yellow gold and is ball-shaped with a hollow interior. Decorating the 3-dimensional is a pattern of beautiful rose cut diamonds, which form a starburst motif at the base, and at the top of the handle. A row of diamonds hugs the center of the orb, and a second row encircles the top of the handle. The sparkling pavé stones are set in sterling and look marvelous against the yellow gold setting! A wonderful example of antique conversion jewelry, this lovely pendant would look perfect worn on a favorite gold chain as an everyday accessory.
Measurements: The pendant hangs 1 1/2" long (including the ring at the top), and measures 3/4" wide and thick.
Condition: The piece is in very good antique condition. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold and silver setting. The ring for hanging is secure. Two of the rose cut diamonds have been replaced, restoring the piece to its original intact design. There is a natural patina on the surface of the gold and silver setting, which is normal for a Victorian era piece and adds to its unique character.
