A wonderful gunmetal necklace from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This lovely compilation piece consists of a gunmetal heart locket that hangs from a gunmetal and crystal chain. The gunmetal locket is simple and smooth, and has a wonderful dark matte finish. It opens to reveal two circular cutouts where special photographs could be stored inside. It hangs from a gunmetal jump ring at the top, which is permanently attached to the complimentary chain. The unusually long gunmetal chain has a stylish “Crystals by the Yard” design, incorporating 16 faceted crystals that alternate with simple strands of chain. The delicate crystals are held within eyeglass settings and sparkle beautifully in the light, standing out dramatically against the dark gunmetal setting. When worn, the chain slips easily on and off overhead thanks to its generous length, with no need for a clasp. It can be doubled for a lovely layered look if desired. The versatility of the design merges seamlessly into a contemporary fashion, making the necklace a perfect everyday accessory!

Measurements: The entire length of the chain measures approximately 62". The locket hangs 1 5/8" in total length, including the gunmetal ring at the top. The heart locket itself has measures 1 1/4” tall and wide, and is 1/4” thick. Each crystal measures 5mm in size.

Condition: The overall condition of the necklace is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gunmetal chain or to any of the crystals, all of which are intact. The locket has some surface wear to the interior and exterior of the piece, which is commensurate with age. The hinged locket opens easily and stays securely closed, and the gunmetal ring for hanging is secure and in good condition.
