Vintage Chinese 14kt Carved Tiger's Eye Bird & Flower Pendant
Beautiful and substantial, this vintage pendant from the 1950s is hand-carved from tiger's eye stone! Chinese in origin, the carved design has a wonderful nature-inspired motif, which features a charming bird on one side, perched at the center of a flower border. On the opposite side is a branched design with hanging leaves and vines. The smoothly carved detail is flowing and artistic, including shapely cutouts and lightly engraved detail at the surface. The tiger's eye has a wonderful iridescent quality, with rich deep brown and caramel colors that flash in the light. At the top of the pendant is a 14kt gold bar with a flower-shaped attachment that grasps the carving. A gold ring rests at the top, perfect for hanging from a favorite chain. A lovely handmade piece, the beautiful design reflects its Chinese origin and would make a striking accessory!
Measurements: The pendant hangs 3" long, including the gold bar and ring for hanging. The carving itself measures 2" tall, 1 1/2" wide, and 1/2" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is very good. There is a small chip at the base of the back of the tiger's eye stone, which is not immediately noticeable due to the carved design, and does not detract from the beauty of the piece. The gold bar and ring for hanging are secure and intact.
