Arts & Crafts Gilded Sterling Glass "Peacock Eye" Ring
A stunning and unique glass "peacock eye" ring from the Arts & Crafts (ca1900) era! Crafted in gilded sterling silver, this bold and artistic piece adorns a relatively large foiled glass cabochon at the center of a decorative setting. The bezel set cabochon exhibits incredible iridescent emerald green and deep, vivid blue hues with the foil creating a fantastic visual effect. The colorful image is meant to portray the beautiful "eye" at the tip of a peacock feather, and the shimmering color is achieved by the inclusion of the colored foil. A classic Art & Crafts floral motif rests at each shoulder, wrapping around the bezel, with "stems" stretching back to create the band. The gorgeous textured setting is the perfect compliment to the centerpiece, and stamped inside of the shank is a "STERLING" purity mark. A wonderful example of the Arts & Crafts Era aesthetic, this artistic ring makes a beautiful statement piece!
Measurements: The ring has a finger size of 6.5, but could be resized. The centerpiece measures a little more than 3/4" tall, about 5/8" wide, and rests 3/8" above the finger when worn.
Condition: The overall condition of the ring is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gilded sterling silver setting. The glass cabochon is intact and securely set and is free of any apparent chips or scratches.
