Edwardian 14kt/Platinum Diamond Sapphire Filigree Earrings
A gorgeous pair of diamond and sapphire earrings from the Edwardian (ca1910) era! Crafted in 14kt yellow gold topped with platinum, each side features a stunning shield shaped link dangling from an ornate surmount. The link features fine filigree wirework and delicate cutouts that surround an old Mine Cut diamond at the center. Two lines of rich blue calibrated sapphires crisscross through the center stone, while old Rose Cut diamonds adorn the entire link, trailing into the connector loop at the top. A triangular shaped link rests at the center and hangs from an intricate and elongated topper, each one lined with additional Rose Cut accent diamonds. The combination of the sapphires and sparkling diamonds, against the mixed metals filigree background is simply stunning. Fine milgrain details are found throughout the piece, and resting at the top is a hinged leverback wire, allowing the earrings to dangle with lovely movement and frame the face beautifully. They have a timeless elegance that would be perfect for special occasions!
Measurements: Each earring hangs approximately 1 5/8" long and measures about 3/8" wide and is a little more than 1/8" thick.
Condition: The overall condition of the earrings is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the platinum and gold setting. The diamonds and sapphires are intact and securely set. The earring wires are secure and in good working order.
