Victorian 15kt & Garnet Etruscan Foxtail Locket/Pendant
A fabulous combination locket and pendant from the Victorian (ca1880) era! This wonderful piece is made of 15kt yellow gold and detailed with an ornate fine Etruscan wirework design. In the center of the piece is a foil-back garnet cabochon stone, which is bezel set and surrounded by a delicate wirework border. Dangling from the bottom of the piece is a foxtail design comprised of eleven tassels and spears, which hang in a graduated pattern with the longest in the center. The back of the piece reveals a glass-covered frame for storing a favorite photograph, and the entire pendant hangs from a complimentary fluted Etruscan bail. This stunning piece is an exceptional example of fine Etruscan work and would make a wonderful addition to any collection!
Measurements: The pendant hangs approximately 2 3/8" long, has a 1" diameter, and is 3/8" thick at the deepest point.
Condition: The overall condition of the pendant is excellent. Besides normal surface wear, there is no apparent damage to the gold setting, chain tassels, or to the garnet stone, which is intact. The fluted bail and locket back are both secure and in good working condition.
